She came to this county in 1879. She was married Jan. 19, 1894, to W. I. Crites. She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Windess E. Carnahan, Clay Center; two sons, Orville W. Crites at home and Charles Crites, North Platte, Neb.; one brother, W. G. Wortley, Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. C. C. Ingraham Hastings, Neb.; Mrs. J. J. Rogers, Los Angeles and Mrs. L. A. Pitney, Los Angeles; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Farlington Sunday at 2 p. m., Rev. H. C. Brockman officiating. Burial was in the Farlington cemetery.
Mrs. Effie Klock, a long time friend of Mr. Crites requested that the following two poems used by Rev. Brockman be printed:
Onward it crept with added strength, Never a thought of fear or pride And it followed the light through the crevice length And unfolded itself on the other side.
The light, the dew, the broadening view, Were found the same as they were before; It lost itself in beauties new, Breathing its fragrance more and more.
Shall claim of death cause us to grieve, And make our courage faint or fall?
Nay, let us faith and hope receive The rose still grows beyond the wall.
Scattering fragrance far and wide.
