He was born at Brompton-by-Sawdon, the 9th Baronet of Brompton, the son of Sir George Allanson Cayley, 8th Baronet,(1831–1895) and Lady Cayley; husband of Lady Mary Susan Cayley,[nee Montagu-Stuart-Wortley- 1861-11 Dec 1941] of The Hall, Brompton-by-Sawdon, Yorks.They married 17 Sep 1884.The 7th Baronet was Sir Digby Cayley, (1807–1883)
He was a descendant of Sir George Cayley, 6th Baronet, the notable aviation pioneer also interred here.
