Jacob Willem Stephanus Nel is op 23 Maart 1808 gebore. Hy was drie keer getroud. Sy eerste vrou, Johanna Elisabeth Steenkamp het op 12 Januarie 1927 met die geboorte van haar eerste baba gesterf nog voor Nel op Papkulsfontein gewoon het.

Thus done, inventoried and appraised in the Orphan Chamber in
the Cape of Good Hope on the 19th Septb:r 1827 according to a statement
delivered by the widower named in the premises, who declared to have acted with
good faith in this respect and not to have kept any thing concealed belonging
to the estate abovementioned, and the appearer declared that he is and will at
all times be ready and willing to confirm his statement by solemn oath if
required, promising at the same time that if after the date of these presents
any other property of this estate might be discovered, he shall faithfully
communicate it to the Orphan Chamber in order to amplify this inventory with
the property so discovered.
In witness whereof we the Commissioners together with the
Appearer and the Head Clerk in the Orphan Chamber have subscribed to these
presents.

Hy trou vir 'n derde keer met Martha Margaretha van Taak by wie hy twee seuns gehad het. It is interesting to note that the type of stone and the style of engraving of Nel’s and van Taak’s gravestones are similar although nine years apart (Grave 4 and Fig. 4). Die seuns, Jacobus, gebore 1 Desember 1843 en Jan Harmse, gebore 7 Mei 1847, se lewens was nou met die plaas Sewefontein verweef. Who was interred in
this graveyard? Working backward through time we can discount the van Wyk
family, as when they purchased Papkuilsfontein they were resident on another
nearby farm, Matjesfontein, and already had a family graveyard. The
genealogical details are taken from Heese and Lombard unless otherwise noted.
